Microthamnion Genus: Thalli branched uniseriate filamentous; attached by a basal cell with a small holdfast; cells cylindrical or sometimes subclavate; terminal cells with bluntly rounded end; chloroplasts a single, parietal plate-like; without pyrenoids (Photomicrog. Fresh-w. Alg. 4, 1985).
Species: Vegetative cells short 10-20 μm long, 3 μm diam., axis unclear (Illustrations of The Japanese Fresh-water Algae, 1977).
