Genus: Unicellular; variable in shape; a constriction at the center of the cell body;
mostly longer than wide; flattened; each semicell hemispherical, spherical, ellipsoidal,
rectangular, pyramidal or kidney-shaped; no apical indentation

Cosmarium subcrenatum Hantzsch var. subcrenatum ?,
outline shape similar to that of C. subspeciosum var. validius Nordstedt, but smaller,
cell body 35 μm long, 25 μm wide, L/W=, isthmus 12 μm wide,
