Cosmarium cucurbitinum Species [ var. cucurbitinum ]: Cell body medium in size, (56.5-73)-83 μm long, 26-(28-30)-33 μm wide, L/W=2.5, slightly constricted at the center; semicells semi-spindle shaped, gradually attenuated toward apex, lateral margins convex, apex broad circular; cell wall dotted.
[ f. minor ]: Smaller than var. cucurbitinum, 50-(56-60) μm long, 22.5-25-(26.5-28) μm wide (Illustrations of The Japanese Fresh-water Algae, 1977).
