Coenochloris Genus: Colony of 4, 8, 16 (sometimes more) cells, planktonic; 4 or 8 daughter colonies within a gelatinous sheath; remnants of mother cell wall present around the daughter cells; cell body spherical; a single chloroplast cup-shaped, with a pyrenoid (Guide book to the "Photomicrographs of the Freshwater Algae", 1998).
