Coccomonas Species: Test rounded in frontal view, elliptical in side view (dorsoventrally compressed spheres), thick, transparent or brownish in color, covered by many small rods-like structures arranging along longitudinal axis of test; protoplast ovoid; lengh of flagella nearly the same as that of test; chloroplast cup-shaped; a pyrenoid located posteriorly; stigma elongated, stick-like in shape, at anterior; nucleus centrally located; two contractile vacuoles apical (An illustrated guide to freshwater zooplankton in Japan, 2000).
