Closterium subulatum Species [ var. sublatum ]:
[ var. maius Krieger]: Cell body slightly curved, spindle-shaped, both ends elongate, 304-323 μm long, 15 μm wide; cell wall smooth, colourless (Illustrations of The Japanese Fresh-water Algae, 1977).
170-323 μm long, 15-18 μm wide, L/W=10-20; 4-5 pyrenoids in each chloroplast (Photomicrographs of the Freshwater Algae, vol.3, 1985).
