Chodatella subsalsa Genus: Unicells, planktonic; cell body ovoidal or ellipsoidal; both ends slightly pointed with 4 to 8 spiny projections; a single chloroplast plate-like in shape, with 1 to 4 pyrenoids (Guide book to the "Photomicrographs of the Freshwater Algae", 1998).
Species: Cell body ellipsoidal in shape, 10-12 μm long, 5-7 μm wide; with 4-5 spiny projections at both ends; a chlroplast parietal plate-like, with a pyrenoid (Illustrations of The Japanese Fresh-water Algae, 1977). Cell body ellipsoidal to broad ellipsoidal, 5-12 μm long, 2.5-8 μm in diam.; 2-4 spiny projections (7.5-20 μm long) emerging slightly apart from the ends (Photomicrographs of the Freshwater Algae, vol. 7, 1987).
