Chlamydomonas moewusii Species: Cell body ellipsoidal, 9-16 μm long, 5-12 μm wide; papilla short, horizontally broad with flattened apex (frontal view), side view conical; chloroplast cup-shaped; a pyrenoid located at lateral-central side of the cell; nucleus also centrally located or slightly anterior; stigma elongated elliptical, at anterior half of the cell.
[var. eumetabletos (Moewus) Gerloff 1944]: Cell body 15-17 μm long, 8-10 μm wide; stigma more elongated (stick-like); nucleus located at posterior half of the cell (?).
[var. maior Lund 1947]: Cell body large, 16-24 μm long, 6-14 μm wide.
[var. microstigmata (Lund) Ettl 1976]: Papilla more depressed; stigma more small.
[var. monoica Deason et Ratnasabapathy 1976]: Cell body small, 7-8 μm long, 3-4.5 μm wide (Süßwasserflora von Mitteleuropa 9, Chlorophyta I, 1983).
