Genus: Colonies pear-shaped or irregular bulbous in a gelatinous matrix; epiphytic on other algae by a narrowed stalk of the colony; cells evenly scattered at the periphery of the gel, each bearing a pair of long pseudocilia emerging outward (Photomicrographs of the Freshwater Algae, vol. 3, 1985).
