Stichotricha Suborder: Ventral cirri as 1 or more files of varied length; linear.
Family: Cirral files spiral obliquely around body (Illustrated Guide, 1985).

Genus: Oral cavity not wide; 2 oval macronuclei; marginal cirri confluent at rear; frontventral cirri not linear; body firm, not laterally flexible (Illustrated Guide, 1985). a large AZM at least 1/2 body length; caudal & transverse cirri present; two ovoid macronuclei (Carey, 1992).

S. aculeata Wrzesnioski, 1884: Spindle-shaped; posterior end rounded; thin neck; 90 μm long; peristome 1/2 the body length; contractile vacuole anteriorly located; two ovoid macronuclei (Carey, 1992).

* S. secunda Perty: 130-200 μm long; fresh water (Kudo, 1966).
