Euglena stellata Species: Chloroplasts numerous, aggregated into an axial star-like group; trichocysts fusiform, staining violet or blue with kresylblue; cell broadly spindle-shaped (25-50 μm long, 8-14 μm wide) (Zakrys, 1986). Mucous body spindle-shaped (An illustrated guide to freshwater zooplankton in Japan, 2000).
