tapered at both termini (broad circle, slightly inversed);  cell wall smooth, transparent, without bands; 
chloroplasts with many pyrenoids.  
[var. biconvexum Schmidle]: Inner-side also convex; 
455-603 μm long, 85-126 μm wide,
