Chlamydomonas saxonensis Species: Cell body ellipsoidal or nearly spherical, up to 20-30 μm long, 18-26 μm wide; a very small papilla present (inconspicuous ?); a stigma circular in shape, located at equator; chloroplasts cup-shaped with large central concave; a pyrenoid close to posterior end of the cell body (Süßwasserflora von Mitteleuropa 9, Chlorophyta I, 1983).
