Chlamydomonas Species: Cell body spherical, 20-30 μm diam.; cellwall thin; papilla absent; a single cup-shaped chloroplast with many (5-12-20) pyrenoids; a nucleus central; a sitgma located anteriorly near center; two contractile vacoule at the base of flagella (An illustrated guide to freshwater zooplankton in Japan, 2000).
Cell body ellipsoidal, posterior half slightly wider than anterior, sometimes laterally asymmetrical, 16-27 μm long, 6-23 μm wide; conical papilla present; chloroplast with several pyrenoids; stigma small, located near anterior end; (Süßwasserflora von Mitteleuropa 9, Chlorophyta I, 1983).
Similar species -->> C. capensis; C. striata; C. pseudogigantea; cienkowskii; C. schzochlora; C. rubrifilum; C. breviciliata;


Chlamydomonas deasonii Ettl 1976 (or Chlamydomonas cienkowskii Schmidle ?), each cell has two flagella with equal length, a chloroplast contains many pyrenoids, small papilla present?, two contractile vacuoles at the base of flagella, cell body 17-23 μm long, 13-20 μm wide, a nucleus located at the center of the cell body, stigma present ? (elongated ellipsoidal in shape, located at anterior half of the cell body), (location of the nucleus and the shape and location of the stigma, if present, is similar to C. cienkowskii rather than C. deasonii), x 400, x 640, Tsukuba city, Ibaraki Pref., Japan, October 2000, collected by N.
