V. bacillipedes: body 8-25 μm long, cell shape triangular; hyaline anterior zone 1/4 to 1/3 of body length; 0-6 or more long (5-15 μm long) tapered pseudopodia that wave only when being retracted; cytoplasm with several granules; fresh water (How to know the protozoa, 1979).

V. lemani Page, 1976: Locomotive, 20-30 μm long, pseudopods clear, 5-30 μm long, from margin of body surface; uroid none; ectoplasm pale; nucleus spherical, 3 μm; cyst ovoid with projections, 2-3 μm.

V. telmathalassa Bovee, 1956: Locomotive, 15-45 μm long; pseudopods clear, 5-30 μm long, from margin (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
