Lorica often possesses numerous spines, composed of ferric hydroxide impregnated with brown 
manganic compound (Kudo, 1966). Species: 28-40 μm long, 
25-31 μm diam., 
lorica broad ellipsoid, no collar anterior;  both ends dented 
(Illustrations of The Japanese Fresh-water Algae, 1977).
