Very broad, 130-160 μm long;
almost ovoid in shape with central upper surface domed; a flattened band with trichocysts around entire
periphery of the cell; two spherical macronuclei; a single contractile vacuole (Carey, 1992).
L. rostratum Cohn, 1866: 100-180 μm long; well-defined neck region anterior;
posteriorly rounded; ventral edge sinuous; a flattened band along both sides; two ovoid
macronuclei; a single contractile vacuole posterior (Carey, 1992).
