Trachelomonas scabra

Genus: Euglenas in a close fitting lorica; a single long flagellum extends through small opening; lorica with or without short collar; yellow to brown (How to know the protozoa, 1979). Lorica often possesses numerous spines, composed of ferric hydroxide impregnated with brown manganic compound (Kudo, 1966).
Species: Collar present: lorica spherical or ellipsoidal: surface coarse Species: Lorica ellipsoid, both ends narrowly rounded, lateral sides swelled; collar present; wall scabrous with minute protuberances irregularly disposed; 23-26 μm long, 18-20 μm wide (Photomicrographs of the Fresh-water Algae, vol.8, 1988).
