Genus: Ovoid, spindle-form or cylindrical; cytostome at anterior end in a slit; right ridge thickened and lip-like (Kudo, 1966). Oral apparatus apical and slit-like, the right edge of which is thickened and bears long protoplasmic processes containing trichocysts; single macronucleus & contractile vacuole; caudal cilia present (Carey, 1992).
