Homalozoon Genus: Body long to ovoid; cilia on 1 surface (Illustrated Guide, 1985). Long, thin, cylindrical in shape (vermiform); flattened laterally; contractile; anterior is truncated with cytostome lying along the apical edge; several contractile vacuoles along the dorsal edge (Carey, 1992).
Species: Cell body vermiform, highly contractile, up to 650 μm long, posterior pointed; macronucleus moniliform; contractile vacuole lying against dorsal ridge along the entire length of the body (Kahl, 1935).
