Didinium Genus: Cell body equipped with a short cone-shaped snout; cytostome forms only when feeding; somatic ciliation is reduced to two narrow bands encircling the body, one equatorially and the other anteriorly; macronucleus long, sausage- or horseshoe-shaped (Carey, 1992).
