Coleps Genus: Body form barrel-shaped; with regularly arranged ectoplasmic plates; cytostome at anterior end, surrounded by slightly longer cilia; often spinous projection at or near posterior end; one or more long caudal cilia (Kudo, 1966).
Species: Cell body 50-70 μm long, 35-55 μm wide; ridges of main plates distinctly crenellated and wing-like; one large spine at anterior collateral plate and four spines at rear end (Foissner et al., Ciliate-Atlas, 1994).
