Leptosira Genus: Subaerial algae, irregularly branched; cell division by septum formation; asexual reproduction by zoospore; cell body contains a large vacuole (Illustrations of The Japanese Fresh-water Algae, 1977).
Species: Filamentous algae consisting of several cells, irregularly branched; cell body cylindrical, ellipsoidal or spherical, 10-30 μm long, 10-20 μm in diam., a single plate-like chloroplast with a pyrenoid; one or two large vacuoles located at the center of the cell body (Illustrations of The Japanese Fresh-water Algae, 1977).
