Gonium Species: Colonies of 8 cells, 4 out of the 8 cells ellipsoidal, arranged in cruciform, remaining 4 cells nearlly spherical, situated between each of the ellipsoidal cells forming a square view; colonies of 16 cells also present; each cell with a stigma and two contractile vacuoles; chloroplasts single, cup-shaped, with a single pyrenoid; cells up to 12-16 μm in diam.; 8-celled colonies up to 45 μm in diam.
