Cell body ellipsoidal or nearly cylindrical, both ends rounded, 8-10 μm long, 4-6 μm wide;
papilla absent; cellwall thick; flagellar length about the same as body length;
chloroplast cup-shaped; a spherical pyrenoid central-lateral; stigma at anterior 1/3 of the cell;
nucleus behind the pyrenoid
(Süßwasserflora von Mitteleuropa 9, Chlorophyta I, 1983).
