Because the flower tube is turned down and makes a stand, we call this a cup flower.  A part of the stamens changes into a petal-like structure in pear mutants. This figure shows petaloid stamens elongating from the central cup of the flower.  This plant may include a reversed gene and petaloid pear gene.
