Though the morning glory stem grows by winding up as a vine, this mutant did not retain this trait. As this strain grows like trees due to the shortening of stem internodes, it is named accordingly. Because the stem grows normally when the apex is treated with drops of the proper concentration of gibberellin, it is thought that dwarf abnormality may be related to this hormone. As it is a horticulturally dwarf plant, it is suitable for Bonsai and porch gardening.
