The Nandin leaf, in which the cuts between lobes of the three-pointed leaf is extremely deep, looks like at times a compound leaf resembling terminal leaves of a nandin branch, and thus is named nandin leaf. The Nandin leaf has the characteristic that the leaf rim turns to the outside, abducting, and the tip of the central vein projects keenly. In the flower, the tips of the rays project, so it is called a sword flower.
