The flower bud, at a length of 5.9 cm, is in stage 3 of Kaihara & Takimoto (1979), photographed at 10:10 a.m. on October 13, 2001 after two days of continuous light. It reached stage 6 at 10:50 a.m. and stage 7 at 11:20 a.m. It completely opened at noon. (591-24 2001.10.13 photo by YY)
