-22 1-22 are strange morning glories called varied or mutant morning glories (Henka-asagao in Japanese). In the Edo era of Japan, the florists eagerly searched for mutants of flowers and leaves in the morning glory and then improved these varieties.
Though the flowers are small and it takes a lot of time and effort to cultivate them, we have taken good care of them as one of the original Japanese gardening flowers.
-3 Star ("Kikyo") The flowers resemble the bellflower. This has single and double flowers.
Dwarf ("Kidachi" or "Kodachi") This is a mutant that does not have vines. It has only short, straight stems.
Weeping ("Shidare") This is a mutant whose vines do not grow upward. Instead, the vines grow downward. This downward growth is called "weeping".
Fasciated ("Sekka" or "Taika") In this mutant, a stem becomes flat like a sash.
