Between the time when the bent hypocotyl (axis) grows upright and the time two closely folded cotyledons open into a horizontal position, about half of a day passes.
On a warm day when the weather is particularly fine, the cotyledons open up faster, in less than half a day.
Watch for this every day with great care.
You're more likely to see this when you sow many seeds at a time.
|
You can take off a seed coat by moistening and softening it with water. But be careful not to damage the cotyledons when the seed coat sticks to an edge of the cotyledons.

You can see a leaf bud between the cotyledons for 2 weeks.
If you sow seeds at several different times, you can see germination many times.
