Morning glory Ipomoea nil (= Pharbitis nil)

Suhamatatuta, Retracted maple, retracted, maple (re, m)

Copyright 1998-2017 Yoshiaki Yoneda

The leaf is five-pointed like a maple, but the leaf lobes become more retracted (or shorter) than usual. This retraction of the leaf is due to the retracted gene, the tip of the leaf taking a slightly round shape. The number of rays increases, and so the flower enlarges in diameter.
