1 A flower bud in the evening before its morning opening.

2 At about 1:00 a.m., the tip of the bud comes loose.

3 By this stage, it is approximately 2 hours after step 2 above.

4 The torsion of the bud falls and the bud begins to open.

5 Once this stage begins, it takes about 10 minutes for the flower to open fully.

6 Just before full opening.

7 It is about 4:00 a.m. when the flower opens completely.

8 Just before noon. The petals shrink back inside.

9 This is how the flower looks the next morning.
